Mom and Dad-
Thanks for the update on Grandpa Shuppy. He has actually been on my mind for the last week or so. It is funny how you can sense when things are not completely right. I love the Spirit!
My birthday was great! Thank you so much for the package. My skirt is so cute! I feel like a stylish missionary in it. And the other night when I wore it, I was really Bold-Sauce with our investigators. Also thank you for the pictures. It is nice to have them.
My birthday cake was great! Sister Gieseke did well. I received a total of 3 birthday cakes for my birthday! Thanks to Sister G, Brandi and Bear, and Sister Turner! I love them all! It was insane. I also got a lot of candy from members too.
With my birthday money from the Thackers, I bought my hair cut and a Vanderbilt sweater that I really wanted. That is the best University here. People come from all over to go to Med and Law school there.
That is good news about Evan. I am glad you have one of your grandbabies nearby. It is good that Patrice has you too.
I had a good talk with Sister Seager, the Temple President's wife, on my birthday. I wrote all the details in my journal. She gave me some advise that will be good. But the Spirit taught me a lot. The entire experience helped me realize something: I don't need to go to a general authority to figure out my future. I can skip the middle man and just go right to the source. My Heavenly Father has taught me more through the Holy Ghost than any other person. Personal Revelation trumps all.
I didn't have much time this week. Thanks! Welp, I love yall! Keep praying for me, I can feel the strength when you do.
Love,Sister Thacker

Here's a note frome Janet along with some photos:
Hey Sue, sorry it's taken me so long to respond but I just now got to my computer. It's been a busy day! Cassie- Sister Thacker is very happy today, it was a great day to be in the Temple and I believe she's felt a lot of love today. I'm printing off your message for her and I wanted to send you some pics of her today. Her sweet companion made posters to tell her happy b-day this morning and posted them all over the room then they took the posters down and laid them on the bed to take a pic of them so I took one too along with Sis. Thacker feeding the turkeys in the front yard...she was a little nervous but overcame so I could take the pics. Enjoy!
Love to all,
Sister G.
P.S. I did get the choc. cherry topped cake made & slipped it over to my nieces house {whose home they had dinner in tonight}. Melody said Cassie Jo appreciated it and was really surprised. I know it wasn't as good as mom's but she knew the instructions came from mom so she was feeling the love. Thanks for the help! Cassie Jo says to tell you she loves you back!!

This is at a restaurant in Opryland called Rainforest cafe. The elders are (from l to r) Elder Yadernuk ZL (former AP), Elder Ragle DL (the one with the bone sticking out of his mouth), Elder Dean, and Elder Rassmussen ZL. Then me and my sweet companion.

Family-Well, I didn't get to go to the temple this last week. : ( I was very sad that I we didn't. Very Sad.It has been so cold here! There is a phrase in Tennessee however: "If you don't like the weather here, just wait 15 minutes." It is true. The weather has varied from 2 degrees to 60 degrees in the last two weeks. Very strange. We were walking a lot last week because we ran out of miles for the car. We live really far away from our investigators so it eats up miles really fast. I am chopping off my hair today. I am so sick of the perm. It will be pretty short. I would do a pixie cut but my companions have almost talked me out of it. I was thinking a very short A-line or a Pixie. I guess we will see. I'll have Sister Gieseke send pictures so yall can see it. I hate hair... well, when I don't have time to do it.The work is going great. There are a whole bunch of part member families here to work with. Some of them are pretty stubborn though. I love them all so much, I just wish they would listen to the Spirit, but 'there's a wall there.'I don't remember if I told yall about the lady that Sister Smith and I found named Sherri Smith? She is a less active lady that I really love who was baptized with her family when she was 18 by President Laney of the Salt Lake City South Mission when he was a missionary. (He was the same one who spoke at the stake conference that I spoke at before I left.) Well anyway, her boyfriend Mark is taking the lessons right now!!! He is so cool. He used to be a Baptist Deacon (that is comparable to an Elders Quorum President in our church (prestige wise)). He knows a ton about the Bible. It has been so exciting to see him making connections and growing. Pray for Mark and for Sandi. Her father is having some serious medical problems right now and she is in Utah with him. Pray for him too. Have I told yall how much I love Mt. Juliet? It is like my second home. I got to see Ginny and Gordon yesterday. They are doing well. I love them and miss them at church. Well yall, it has been fun. I hope all is well for you. There have been a lot of crazy things happening with the economy so I have heard. Stay strong and keep praying. I know that if you are doing all that you can to keep God first on the priorities list, He will help you with your righteous needs when you ask in faith. This is a time of humbling. Unfortunately many are being compelled to be humble. But take the oportunity to share your testimony with someone this week of the love that God has given you and your families.Read D&C 59:21. President Monson said, "If ingratitude be numbered among the serious sins, then gratitude takes its place among the noblest of virtues."I know that God loves yall so much. Stay strong!Love,Sister Thacker
